The Black Seniors Support family recently embarked on a memorable drive-through around Winnipeg, creating moments of joy, unity, and inspiration. The event was a resounding success, bringing seniors together to celebrate community, culture, and shared experiences.

One of the highlights of the drive-through was a heartfelt encounter with Hon. Uzoma Asagwara, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health, Seniors and Long-Term Care in Manitoba, who warmly welcomed the group. In a moving address, Hon. Asagwara expressed gratitude and admiration for the organization’s efforts, emphasizing the government’s commitment to supporting Black Seniors across Manitoba.
“I want you to know that you have my full support, that our government is here to support all of you and your group… You inspire me. I hope to be a Black Senior one day, and you inspire me, thank you so much.”

The loud ovation and heartfelt responses from the seniors reflected the joy and encouragement they felt throughout the journey. Beyond the fun of exploring Winnipeg together, the drive-through reinforced the mission of valuing, respecting, and uplifting Black Seniors, while also strengthening ties with leaders who are committed to advancing their wellbeing.

This successful drive-through stands as a reminder of the importance of community, recognition, and advocacy — ensuring that Black seniors continue to be celebrated and supported across Manitoba.
